Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) now welcomes a new industrial facility. EHUA Industries, founded and led by its promoter, Mrs Anick Achi-Magne, was officially inaugurated on Friday, 4th September 2026, in the presence of several members of the Government of Benin and numerous distinguished guests.
The ceremony was attended by Mr Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, Minister of Tourism and Foreign Trade, in charge of African Integration, Industry and Private Investment Promotion; Mrs Shadiya Alimatou Assouman, Minister of Domestic Trade, in charge of Economic Formalisation; and Mr Adin Yeton Bloukounon Goubalan, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
Designed and built over a three-year period, EHUA Industries covers eight hectares and represents an investment of XOF 28 billion. The facility is positioned as a strategic agro-industrial complex, with one of its key objectives being to reduce Benin’s reliance on imported animal feed.
The complex comprises two main production units:
- A Soybean Crushing Unit (UTS), with the capacity to process 300 tonnes of soybeans per day to produce crude soybean oil and protein-rich soybean meal. The latter is an essential raw material for the production of feed for livestock and poultry.
- A complete livestock and poultry feed manufacturing plant, with an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes. The facility is intended to provide farmers with high-quality feed while contributing to improved productivity and competitiveness across the livestock sector.
The plant’s operations rely in particular on the valorisation of several locally available agricultural raw materials and by-products, including maize, soybeans, rice bran, maize bran, cottonseed meal, palm oil, as well as cashew rejects and cashew skins.
These materials are processed into a range of feed products for different types of livestock, including broiler poultry (chickens, guinea fowl, turkeys, etc.), laying hens, pigs, rabbits and cattle.
For Mrs Anick Achi-Magne, the decision to establish EHUA Industries at GDIZ was a natural choice. “Choosing to establish EHUA Industries at GDIZ was an obvious decision, as we benefit here from a world-class ecosystem,” she stated during the ceremony.
Beyond its production capacity, the establishment of EHUA Industries contributes to the development of a broader economic ecosystem.
Mr Létondji Beheton, Managing Director of SIPI-BENIN S.A., highlighted this broader impact, stating: “Behind this industrial activity, there are naturally thousands of jobs, skills that are being developed, producers gaining access to new markets, as well as a whole range of transport, logistics and distribution activities that can benefit from this momentum.”
For Minister Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, EHUA Industries represents a “starting point” on Benin’s journey towards economic and food sovereignty. The Minister also highlighted the ability of Beninese and African investors to develop strategic industrial projects, while commending the promoter’s journey as an illustration of the growing involvement of women in industry.
With the establishment of EHUA Industries, GDIZ further strengthens its role as a platform for agro-industrial transformation, where agricultural raw materials are processed locally into higher value-added products, contributing to the growth and development of Benin’s economy.
