Two units operating within Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) were recently honored for their contributions to social inclusion and local resource development. These awards highlight the positive impact of initiatives undertaken within GDIZ, showcasing the human potential and resources of Benin.
A benchmark in gender equality: the Textile Training and Production Centers Awarded
On 30 October, the Textile Training and Production Centers within GDIZ received recognition in the “Gender Equality and Inclusion” category at the Africa Sustainable Future Awards, an initiative supported by the Financial Times. This award acknowledges the centers’ commitment to provide equal opportunities for both women and men, fostering sustainable social and economic development. By placing inclusion at the core of their mission, these centers actively contribute to empowering local talent, laying the foundation for equitable growth across Africa.
An exemplary model of local value addition: Benin Cashew S.A., Agribusiness of the Year
On 24 October, Benin Cashew S.A., located within GDIZ, was named African Agribusiness of the Year at the All Africa Business Leaders Awards. This distinction, a first for a Beninese company, celebrates Benin Cashew S.A.’s dedication to local cashew processing in Benin. By creating jobs and building local expertise, the company has become a pillar of economic development, underscoring GDIZ’s vital role in building a robust agribusiness industry that serves Benin’s growth.
Prevention : A simple act that makes all the difference
On 29 October, GDIZ hosted an impactful health initiative, offering its workers free screening for HIV, hepatitis B, and tuberculosis.
