It was an honour for us to receive Mr Gaston DOSSOUHOUI, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and his delegation, on Tuesday 13 September, for a tour of GDIZ site.
The ministerial delegation, led by Mr Létondji BEHETON, Managing Director of SIPI-BENIN SA and Mr Laurent GANGBES, Managing Director of APIEx BENIN, was invited to discover :
- the progress of the construction works of the first cashew processing plant which should open its doors at the end of September 2022.
- optimal storage conditions for agricultural products, particularly cashew nuts.
- Garment Training Centres enabling the effective transformation of cotton into shirts, tee-shirts, and other Made in Benin clothing within the zone.
Two years after being one of the very first signatories of the memorandum of understanding for the creation of the GDIZ, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries observed with pride the viability of the first phase of the project. He also praised the commitment, faith and dexterity of the directors of SIPI-BENIN SA and APIEx BENIN, as well as the vision of the Government of SEM Patrice TALON to make Benin an industrial hub.
