GDIZ is organizing ‘Eco-Friendly Month’, an initiative led by the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) department of SIPI-BENIN S.A. This initiative aims to strengthen the eco-responsible culture among employees of the Zone through a series of awareness-raising, engagement, and action-oriented activities focused on environmental protection.

As part of the World Environment Day celebration, ‘Eco-Friendly Month’ was officially launched on June 5, with two main initiatives :

  • An awareness conference on the theme of the day ‘Together to end plastic pollution’ delivered by Carpus Aïsso, head of the startup SIMEC, which specialises in plastic waste recycling.
  • An ecological walk through the Zone, featuring a waste collection operation as a strong symbol of collective commitment to both GDIZ and the planet.

Plastic pollution has now become a global issue that negatively affects our ecosystems. Coordinated efforts are needed at all levels. At GDIZ, we believe that change can happen through greater awareness and the gradual shift in behaviors. That’s why we promote daily awareness among our colleagues and partners,” Dave Detchenou, ESG Manager, GDIZ.

Additional activities are planned throughout the month, including reforestation campaigns, used plastic collection, and engagements with local recycling players.

Through this initiative, GDIZ once again reaffirms its commitment to sustainable, responsible, and environmentally conscious industrial development.
