28 April marks the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, initiated by the International Labour Organization (ILO). This global observance aims to promote a safe, healthy, and respectful working environment that upholds the fundamental rights of every worker, wherever they may be.
The 2025 edition, themed “Revolutionising health and safety: role of AI and digitalisation in the workplace”, highlights the ongoing transformation of professional environments and the growing importance of leveraging technology to enhance worker wellbeing.
At GDIZ, safety is far more than a regulatory obligation, it is a daily priority embraced at all levels. As a testament to this commitment, the Investment and Industry Promotion Company (SIPI-BENIN S.A.) officially launched Safety Week on Monday, 28th April 2025, a dedicated week focused on prevention, awareness, and the promotion of best practices in occupational health and safety.
Mr Faki ADJE, Deputy Managing Director of SIPI-BENIN S.A., officiated the launch in front of over a hundred employees gathered for the occasion.
The launch ceremony featured a presentation on this edition theme by Dr Songbian ZIME, Artificial Intelligence expert and Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Digital Affairs and Digitalisation of Benin.
The day also included the recognition of several police officers and firefighters from the Zone, honoured for their exemplary dedication, professionalism, and active contribution to promoting health and safety within Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ).
This Safety Week wrapped up on a high note with a friendly inter-factory football tournament.
Through this Safety Week, GDIZ reaffirms its ambition of achieving zero accidents and building a model working environment where health and safety are a shared responsibility.
