On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) had the honour of welcoming Mr. Nicéphore Soglo, former President of the Republic of Benin. During his visit, the former Head of State explored the modern infrastructure and witness the major advancements achieved within GDIZ.
President Soglo was impressed by the scale of the facilities and the achievements of GDIZ. He expressed his enthusiasm for the progress made, particularly in the local transformation of agricultural raw materials, the export of finished “Made in Benin” products, and the creation of jobs for Benin’s youth. “I could not have imagined that such achievements were happening in my country. I am proud to be Beninese !” he declared emotionally, emphasising the importance of this initiative in the structural transformation of Benin’s economy.
As an iconic political figure in Benin, President Soglo also encouraged continued efforts to make GDIZ a model of success for Africa and the world. His visit serves as a powerful testament of support for the initiatives that are driving the country towards sustainable and inclusive industrialisation.
GDIZ today stands as a national pride and a tangible example of what can be achieved through bold vision and rigorous execution.
