Benin’s specialised company in cashew nut processing, Benin Cashew S.A., has received financial backing during the recent ordinary session of the Board of Directors of West African Development Bank (BOAD).
With a financing of 10 billion XOF, this BOAD initiative aims to support the development of an agro-industrial complex dedicated to cashew nut processing. Located in Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ), this project holds strategic importance for Benin, as it promotes local processing of cashew nuts, previously exported in raw form, thereby adding significant contribution to the value chain.
Within GDIZ, Benin Cashew S.A. operates five (05) cashew nut processing units with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons, and one (01) Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) extraction unit with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, currently under construction.
This financial support from BOAD to Benin Cashew S.A. marks a significant milestone in the promotion of cashew nut processing industry in Benin.
