Construction of the African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC) begins at GDIZ!
Afreximbank, in collaboration with ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP), has launched the construction of the African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC) within GDIZ.
This laboratory will provide testing and certification services to ensure that products manufactured within the Zone meet international quality and safety standards.
Through this initiative, products derived mainly from cotton, cashew nuts, and soybeans will be better positioned in international markets, strengthening Benin’s local industry and GDIZ’s role in driving the industrialisation of West Africa.

A continued commitment to Benin’s industrialisation
On 5 December 2024, GDIZ once again had the honour of welcoming Mr. Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, Minister of State in charge of Development and Coordination of Government Action, for a visit focused on progress achieved and future prospects.
During this visit, the Minister and his team had the opportunity to observe:
- The development of industrial infrastructures, including the “Made in Benin” textile units and the cashew warehouse.
- Progress at the dry port within the zone, a strategic hub for logistics and trade.
- Activities at Btex (Benin Textile S.A.), a key player in promoting local textiles and the “Made in Benin” industry.
- The positive impact on employment, with over 14,000 jobs created, the majority of which are held by young Beninese workers trained locally.
- Ongoing efforts to add value to raw materials, a key lever for maximising local added value.
GDIZ is proud to stand as a model of excellence for Benin, combining the enhancement of raw materials with sustainable economic opportunities.
