Glo-Djigbé, February 24, 2023 – The Société d’Investissement et de la Promotion de l’Industrie (SIPI-BENIN S.A.), in charge of the development of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ), obtained, on January 25, 2023, the Organic Certification issued by Ecocert (a world leader in organic certification) for production, preparation and export of soybeans and cashew crop, as per Ecocert Organic standard (EOS, European regulation) and National Organic Program (NOP, USDA organic regulations).

SIPI-BENIN S.A. has been audited and certified according to :

  • the certification program recognized as equivalent to the provisions of the EC regulation n° 834/2007 for the export of organic products to the European Union;
  • the organic program recognized as equivalent to the provisions of EC regulations n° 834/2007, 889/2008 and 1235/2008 for the export of organic products to Great Britain.

SIPI-BENIN S.A. obtained this certification by implementing a strategy aimed at accompanying and supporting Benin’s agricultural producers in their progress towards a more sustainable production. Within the framework of the development of the Soya and Cashew sectors, SIPI-BENIN S.A. provides advisory services for more than one hundred and forty thousand (140,000) farmers from eight hundred (800) villages in Benin and works with them to shift from conventional farming methods to sustainable agriculture practices.

This certification is testimony to the commitment of SIPI-BENIN S.A. to develop in Benin, a sustainable agriculture, and to provide the best agricultural products to investors, who are setting up their factories in GDIZ.
